Cobalt Scrap
Cobalt scrap and cobalt alloy scrap consists of cobalt-bearing products that are no longer in use.
Cobalt scrap or cobalt alloy scrap can be recycled from many sources such as Turbine blades,
spent rechargeable batteries,
cutting tools and magnets.
Recycling Cobalt
Forecasts for recycling of cobalt, and cobalt recovery in general, suggest there will be a
rapid increase in demand in the coming years.
This is especially apparent in our technology driven society where cobalt metal is desirable for use in
batteries,
semi-conductors in electronics and
electric vehicles (EVs).

Stellite Scrap
Stellite Scrap shall consist of clean sorted Haynes Stellite (HS) solid scrap (excluding HS-27)
with a minimum cobalt content of 50%.
May contain HS-23, HS-25, HS-31, HS-36, L-605.
Typical material will have a content range of 1-10% Nickel, 12-16% Chrome and 50-67% Cobalt.
Stelloy (HS 27),
Stelloy (HS-27) shall consist of Haynes Stellite grade HS-27 with a content of 30% Nickel, 25% Chrome and 30% Cobalt
Carbide Scrap
Carbide Scrap,
tungsten carbide (WC) material contains tungsten with an added amount of either cobalt or
nickel
as a binder.
Cobalt Battery Materials
Cobalt and
nickel
share many of the same properties and are commonly used or swapped depending on the manufacturer,
the availablity and market price.
The use of cobalt and nickel in rechargeable battery manufacturing results in
the opportunity to recover Co & Ni from
spent battery scrap.
The process of recycling electronics and EV batteries produces a byproduct referred to as
Black Mass Battery Residue.
Cobalt is a primary stategic material that may be preserved from the Black Mass.
